ALMATY
The
largest city of the largest "Stand", almaty has a population
today of just over 1.5 million. Almaty tour includes Panfilov Park
dominated by one of the worlds’ tallest wooden buildings, the Zenkov
Cathedral. It was constructed in 1904 without the use of a single
nail. The Museum of Kazak National Instruments has a unique collection
of traditional musical instruments, each with a recording of its
sound. The State Art Museum carries rare traditional Kazak rugs,
jewellery and the famous statue of the Golden Warrior. |
BISHKEK
The capital
city of Kyrgyzstan was known as Frunze during the Soviet days. It
was founded in 1825 and our tour of Bishkek includes the History
Museum, Frunze’s House and Museum, the State Fine Art Museum and
the Osh Bazaar on Kievskaya Ulitsa, where the spices and the meat
stalls are exotic to say the least. |

CHOLPAN-ATA
& ISSYK-KUL LAKE
A
beautiful resort in Northest Kyrgyzstan. We tour the enchanting
Lake Issyk-Kul reputed to be the second largest alpine lake in
the world. Offers trout fishing. We visit one of the many sanatoriums-mostly
centered on the resort of Cholpan-Ata.

KARAKOL
A small
town with population of fewer than 100,000, Karakol is the administrative
capital of Issy-kul province. The name means `black hand/wrist’
possibly a reference to the hands of Russian immigrants. It is the
base for exploring the lake shore, Terskey Alatau and the central
Tian Shan. Our tour will also include the local bazaar. |
NARYN
A one
street border town between Kyrgyzstan and xinjiang Province in China.
It was established to guard the Silk Route from Kshgar going westwards. |
OSH
The
second largest city in Kyrgyzstan, it is populated by the many Uzbek
traders who have settled there. Its origin is associated with different
people including King Solomon and Alexander the Great. Our tour
includes the Throne of Suleiman and the main bazaar. |
PENJIKENT
AND BUNJIKATH
Founded
in the 5th Century, Penjikent, though in Tajikistan,
is best accessible from Samarkand. We visit the ruins of Bunjikath,
a major Sagdian town, which includes a citadel, Zoroastrian Temples,
the city bazaar, and the Rudaki Museum. |
ASHGHABAT
Half day tour
includes the statue of Lenin, the fortress of Ashghabat, the presidential
palace, the Mosque of Khezrety Omar and the botanical gardens. Afternoon
visit Nisa Parthaunissa the capital of the Parthians which was a
flourishing city dating back to 3rd century BC. It was
connected with several trade routes. |

Once
Central Asia’s most civilised cities and the "Pearl of the
East". It was the second city of Islam after Baghdad between
the 8th and 13th centuries and the site
of the most horrific slaughter in the entire Mongols’ bloody rampaging
through Eurasia. Our visit includes Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum &
Kys Kala, an unusual windowless castle outside the city and nicknamed
as "The House of Maidens’ Tears".
